“What is success? I think it is a mixture of having a flair for the thing that you are doing; knowing that it is not enough, that you have got to have hard work and a certain sense of purpose.” —Margaret Thatcher
#This is an old video however,
I remember being pushed off the smith’s machine to free weights and being so nervous I was going to do something wrong in terms of form to injure myself that I wouldn’t move. There, I stayed on the smith’s machine @ 185lbs until someone finally said, “Are you still on that machine?” It’s time to grow. 😂
It was as if I was too big for the ride. Everyone could see it but me. 😂😂 So about two weeks later still nervous, I continued my normal routine of squatting my 185lbs in my comfort zone. I didn’t want to let go of the support. My gym friend continued to push me and eventually out of sheer embarrassment I finally leaped off the ride that I’d outgrown, Once I got off, I never looked back. Max squat 275lbs 5-7 reps
Sometimes we stay in our comfort zone too long because we’re afraid to release the level of support we had for so long. However at a certain point as you perfect your craft, the support can then become a hindrance. Don’t be afraid of the challenge to move forward and grow. You never know how far you can go unless you release what is giving you support.
If you’re anything like me, be sure to have some accountability partners that aren’t afraid to stretch you in order to get you to your next level. Whether that be the gym, business, or personal development.
I never could have imagined me squatting this much weight and to be honest, I never wanted to. I didn’t even consider it being a possibility, so I never gave it any thought, but I’ve gotten into the habit of challenging myself to do things that force me to grow. In order to grow we have to have people who are willing to push us to our max potential in purpose.
